Danielle Dutra

Danielle Dutra is a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (R.TCMP) and Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac) with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO). She completed her education at the Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2019 with additional certification in Yuan Qi Classical Acupuncture & Advanced Scalp Acupuncture for Neurological and Psychosomatic Disorders. In the paradigm of TCM, the dualistic nature of hot/cold, yin/yang or damp/dry must find balance for the maintenance of good health. For example – excess heat dries body fluids leading to inflammation. In treatment, Danielle’s training is to identify these imbalances and work towards homeostasis using nutritional counseling, acupuncture, herbal formulas, manual manipulation and movement therapy.

Danielle began the journey of self-inquiry over 10 years ago – exploring meditation, nutrition and fitness. In 2011 & 2012 she studied an ancient technique of meditation known as Vipassana – which means to see things as they really are. Vipassana is the self-transformation through self-observation within the discipline of sitting/living in 10 days of deep silence. From there, she went on to complete her 250 hour Yoga Teacher Training Program at Downward Dog Yoga studio with additional training in The Art of Adjustments. In 2017, she completed a 30 hour Flow Yoga Teacher Certification at Yoga Space with Bibi Hahn – gaining insight on the power of the breath. Her interest in breathwork led her to the Wim Hof Method Workshop – these powerful breathing techniques, as well as cold therapy, scientifically show improvements on immune function and anti-inflammatory conditions.

As she continues to explore more functional medicine, Danielle’s thirst for knowledge on ‘how we heal’ is ongoing. The ‘healer’ resides within the individual – it’s within us all to heal. She believes in connecting to the subtle cues within the mind-body-spirit triad as it prevents more serious complications in the future.
