The intersections of yoga and politics are on the forefront in the west now more than ever. With a paradigm shift in our society, we are all looking for ways to live out our politics and be the change we wish to see.

Designed for discourse, this 4 week, 4 hour course, led by Yogaspace graduate teacher, Sanjeet Takhar, is a beginner level guide to oppression, racism and colonization in the yoga studio and the world. Each week, attendees will engage in lecture style workshopping filled with reflection and discussion prompts. At the end of each week, attendees will be provided articles from various scholars and on-the-ground activists to learn further and prepare for the next session. Together we will learn the meaning of each of these terms, look into the history of oppression and discover new ways to embody a kinder practise. This course is designed to open up doors to new learnings, and to have a safe space to ask tough questions. Together we will make a more equitable future.

Week 1- Racism and White Supremacy
Week 2- India, Yoga & Oppression
Week 3- Decolonizaton
Week 4- Living our Yoga
