Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga Yoga Fundamentals

This 4-week series is an introduction to Ashtanga Yoga and is suitable for beginners, and also ideal for students interested in our morning Mysore program. 

Ashtanga Yoga is a system of yoga that involves synchronizing the breath with movement – for each movement there is one breath, creating a steady rhythm to the practice and meditative flow. The practice is designed to bring healing to the whole body, to both cleanse and strengthen the body, while bringing about calmness to the mind.

Over 4-weeks students will be guided through the fundamentals of the Ashtanga practice slowly, proper breathing, sunsalutations, standing postures, seated postures and closing. Each week will be dedicated to teaching a little bit of the sequence, repeating what we have learned from our previous class and adding on a few new postures.

This is a powerful practice! Repetition is part of the Ashtanga method and our hope is that each week you come to your mat and find small shifts or different feelings in your body. Having a consistent method gives us the opportunity to work on ourselves, our weaknesses, our strengths, to breath in the postures that challenge us.

Payment is due upon registration to secure your spot. Once payment has been made, refunds may occur up until 48 hours prior to the start date of the workshop or pre-registered series. No refunds or exchanges will be given within the final 48 hours before a workshop or pre-registered series begins.
There are no refunds or make-up classes for missed classes within a workshop or pre-registered class.
