Practicing yoga allows a woman to focus on her pregnancy deeply. It provides an opportunity for her to consciously integrate the mental, emotional and physical changes during this time in her life. A good prenatal yoga class will create an environment in which she can access her body’s inherent birthing wisdom and trust her intuition, build her strength, confidence, and cultivate patience.
As prenatal yoga teachers we can help empower women on their journeys towards motherhood and enable them to meet the challenges of that journey with awareness, courage and gentleness. We also have the potential to create a powerful container in which women can connect with each other, forming relationships and community that will extend into their lives beyond the studio. Creating strong bonds of sisterhood becomes an important external expression of the internal bonding to Self they are cultivating through their yoga practice.
This 30 hour advanced training course is the foundation for the full 90 hour advanced Pre/Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training. If you chose to continue on to our Doula Training Program, some of the requirements covered in this Module can be applied towards your doula training. (Note: The Doula Training Program is a new offering that is still in it’s creation phase with a completion date of Spring 2016. More details to come).
