Yoga and Movement Research Labs

with Diane Bruni and Friends
Monday nights 7:30-9pm

October 17 – December 5

A series of 8, 90 minute sessions. One hour of practice and 30 minutes for group discussion weekly. Diane will present the first 6 sessions. The last 2 sessions will be facilitated by Nicky Poole who will demonstrate, teach and discuss how she incorporates the South Indian Martial Arts practice, Kalari Vanakam into her practice and Gabrielle Roddy, a yoga teacher from Montreal with a PhD in the Science of Physical Activity who is known for incorporating all kinds of movement into her yoga classes, making them accessible and lots of fun for everyone. Over the 8 weeks of this program, we will research how to modify and augment classical yoga poses to make them safer and more accessible. We will explore new ways of moving like… rolling, crouching, and walking through flowing, non linear pathways. We will discus the meaning of functionality in our movements and question what we’re training into our bodies and why. This 8 week series is open to teachers who are beginning to think outside the box and anyone else who wants to come along for the ride.
