Pre and Co-requisites:
Restorative Yoga Teacher Training
Yoga as a Healing Modality
Trauma Informed Training for Yoga Teachers

Therapeutic Yoga is a healing modality that nourishes our essential need for deep-rest and touch. During a therapeutic yoga session, participants are moved effortlessly through a sequence of restorative yoga postures accompanied by the application of various hands on healing techniques. Thai yoga and Swedish massage, cranial sacral therapy, diaphragmatic holds, energy healing and essential oils are applied systematically throughout a seventy five minute session. Sessions take place one on one or one on two and most often, in a large group context. The intention is to activate the parasympathetic nervous system and guide participants into a state of deep rest and self awareness. Carefully curated music supports the experience. A therapeutic yoga session is like a magnified yoga nidra journey and is beneficial to individuals of all ages and circumstances. Practitioners are first trained to perform the sequence and techniques on one individual. With practice, they become adept at practicing on two individuals. Trainees learn how to position themselves and use their body weight to maneuver participants and deliver hands on techniques with proficiency and ease. Successful graduates of this training are invited to join the Yogaspace Therapeutic Yoga team which holds sessions at the studio regularly on Thursday evenings. Many graduates have successfully taken this modality into private and public classes throughout Toronto and internationally. Restorative yoga teachers trained in therapeutic yoga possess superior hands on skills.
