Mindfulness-Based Wellness Education (MBWE) is a personal and professional development program on stress reduction, resiliency and renewal. This program requires participation in 8 weekly sessions, one six hour Saturday session as well as continued daily practice at home.

MBWE is modeled on Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, which was created by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn. With over 20 years of research, this program continues to spread worldwide within hospitals and private practices to support patients with chronic disease, pain, depression and anxiety.

Mindfulness-Based Wellness Education expands on the proven methods of MBSR thereby creating a more accessible program with both personal and professional applications. YogaSpace is excited to present this new and innovative work, in a non-clinical setting making it available to the entire community.

Mindfulness is defined as the awareness that emerges through paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally to the unfolding of experience. – Kabat-Zinn, 2003.

Mindfulness can be developed and practiced formally; using various practices such as sitting, lying down, standing, walking, body scanning, and yoga. We then apply the principles of mindfulness to informal practices which come up in our daily lives. This fosters the development of a compassionate relationship to and intimate knowledge of oneself, others, and the world.

Materials for this program include a course reader, wellness workbook, and 2 CDs with Mindfulness practices.
