This evidence based training provides yoga and movement educators with a holistic approach to postpartum rehabilitation. We will look at the changes that occur as women transition into motherhood and lay down the foundations for supporting them towards developing physical, mental and emotional stability, mobility and resiliency during this time of transition.
Learn:
- Common postural patterns and muscular imbalances affected by pregnancy, birth and postpartum demands.
- The role and function of the deep core muscles (diaphragm, transversus abdominis, pelvic floor and multifidis) in postpartum recovery.
- Common postpartum conditions such as diastasis recti, weakened and tight pelvic floor muscles (incontinence, prolapse, hypertension) and how to use asana and functional exercises to encourage healing and re-strengthening.
- Yoga postures and functional exercises to enhance alignment, core function and overall strength.
- Progressive sequencing to release tension and rebuild deep core support and overall strength.
- Restorative poses and breathing practices to balance the parasympathetic nervous system and to promote healing and relaxation.
- The importance of trauma informed and inclusive language when working with postpartum clients.
- How to create a welcoming and inclusive environment through trauma informed, body positive language and postpartum mental health considerations.
