The birth of Karen’s daughter inspired her to journey into the world of childbirth education, and labour, post-partum and breastfeeding support. Her entire body of work is focused around prenatal and postpartum care. Having practiced yoga herself for seven years, she is passionate about sharing the benefits of yoga in general and prenatal yoga in particular. While living in the Yukon, Karen was the director of the local prenatal program where she taught yoga and childbirth education. She moved to Toronto and took the teacher training program at YogaSpace and the Advanced Prenatal Yoga certification with Sasha shortly thereafter. She is a labour doula, childbirth educator, breastfeeding consultant and hypnobirth practitioner. She continues to upgrade and expand her knowledge and experience by attending workshops and advanced trainings. Her greatest teacher and source of all that is light and precious is her young daughter, Aislin.

Karen’s personal philosophy around childbirth and her work as a labour doula is integrated into her prenatal yoga classes which focus on preparation for labour, birth and parenthood – the most precious, glorious, empowering and awe inspiring time in a woman’s life. Breathwork, visualization, stretching, strengthening and vigor is combined with journeying inside to become familiar with one’s own source of power. A woman’s body knows how to birth. Karen guides women towards an awakening of that innate knowledge and empowers them to approach childbirth with confidence, courage and joy. She wishes to acknowlege and thank all of the women, partners and babies who continue to inspire her in her work.
