A feast to the senses, Therapeutic Yoga is the creation
of Kathryn Beet. It is an evolving masterpiece in which
the unique gifts of each assistant inform the shared and
growing wisdom of the entire Therapeutic team. The warm
studio is lit by beeswax candles as soothing music punctuates
an array of healing, aromatic oils. Students are encouraged
to breathe deeply and let go as the team works and plays
together to meet the unique needs of each individual in
the room.
Upon arrival, each student is assigned a primary personal
assistant to guide and support them through a flow of gentle,
restorative poses, while draped in cotton blankets and soft
eye pillows, resting over bolsters in various asana's. Whether
alone in a pose, exploring the varying notes of a particular
essential oil, or in relationship to an assistant applying
a variety of hands-on technique, (including massage, reflexology,
myofacial release and Thai Yoga massage), the emphasis is
on moving through the pose, deeply into the breath.
The Therapeutic team is made up of a strong and always growing
group of teachers who share a commitment to working cooperatively
towards our growth as individuals and as a team. As our
students walk away from these sessions calm, focused and
relaxed, so do we, invigorated and inspired. We heal ourselves
through our shared work of healing others.
Sublime. It combines so many different voluptuous experiences
in one yoga session that one is transported; it's not a
coincidence that Kathryn warns people to be careful driving
afterwards. It's genius, and about the best 90 or so minutes
you can spend doing anything. The amalgam of restorative
yoga, thai massage, aromatherapy and soothing music can
cure just about anything, I think. – Christine

As someone who has difficulty relaxing, I'm not sure
how much I initially expected to get out of the Therapeutic
Yoga experience. Ultimately, I found it incredibly rewarding.
Kathryn and her team of assistants created a warm and caring
space that really helped 'take the edge off'. Yoga is a
powerful tool for working on the mind-body connection. Therapeutic
Yoga is a great way for those of us who need a little help
or encouragement to do that work. Combining aromatherapy,
massage, and fairly mild poses, Therapeutic Yoga is a great
way to let yourself feel spoiled for an evening. –

I took part in Therapeutic Yoga during the second trimester
of my pregnancy. I had been suffering from severe headaches
and lower back pain and found the class extremely helpful
in alleviating both. It was a gift to spend time each week
dedicated to healing and reviving my body. I came away from
each session relaxed both physically and mentally. In terms
of participating as a pregnant woman I found each session
a wonderful chance to connect with my growing baby and changing
body. – Lisa Anne Ross
I started the classes 3 months ago. Now I'm hooked!
It's the evening I most look forward to every week. The
instructors are all so unique in their approach. And the
wonderful essential oils that Kathryn uses are very relaxing.
I'm ready to sign up for next month too!!! –

I was in the first of the therapeutic classes and have
been trying to get back ever since. It was the most awesome
thing I could have done for my sore aching body. It was
better than any massage I have ever had. Being able to be
an active participant in the stretching and relaxing of
your own tense, stressed muscles makes this the best way
to know and help your body. The assistants were so calm,
patient and gave all their energy. I need to get back.

For me, Therapeutic Yoga is a little island of bliss
in a crowded, hectic week. It's both gentle and intense,
dreamlike and clarifying - a sublime cross between a yoga
class and a massage. Right now I'm using it to stretch and
relax my body before upcoming surgery and recovery, but
it's also calming my mind and making me feel at ease in
the world.
Thank you. – Mary Dickie
I just wanted to write and tell you how grateful I am
for the the therapeutic yoga class and for the teachers
who so freely give of their hearts and talents. This spirit
of giving creates a beautiful atmosphere of acceptance and
joy in which students can completely give themselves to
the transforming act of yoga. I believe our bodies reflect
our life experiences and therapeutic yoga reaches deep into
some of these forgotten events reviving joy, healing pain,
and bringing vitality to our lives. Again, thank you so
very much. – Paul Brookbanks
