What is Osteo-Yoga
Osteo-yoga is a holistic slow movement and rehabilitation process. It fuses the long held postures practiced in Yin Yoga with the application of gentle Osteopathic touch from an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner while in the postures.

What to Expect? – Individualized Osteopathic touch/assistance, alongside Myofascial Release from the yoga teacher as needed in each session. – More individualized assists each week. Both the yoga instructor and osteopath will begin to learn more about each participant each week, enabling a more meaningful treatment with every passing session. – Educational components on the role that bones, muscles, and pressure mechanisms all play in creating fully functional bodies integrated throughout the class teachings. – Access to powerful bodywork while restoring the vitality of the body and calming the nervous system.

What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a manual therapy that addresses the body as a whole in order to assess, prevent, and treat dysfunctions. It incorporates gentle treatment of soft tissue (fascia, muscles, tendons, ligaments), the skeletal system, the viscera (organs) and the craniosacral system (the bones within the cranium and the pelvis). Utilizing gentle and effective techniques, osteopathy involves all structures of the body to help elicit the self-healing mechanism of the client.

What Inspired Osteo-Yoga?
I (Ashley) have been navigating a frustrating foot issue for nearly a decade. After breaking my calcaneus, I continually sprained that same ankle for years. I had to quit running completely, shifted my yoga practice completely, and faced chronic pain for much longer than I should have. After years of failed treatments from massage therapists, hopeless test results from doctors and a pain that disturbingly increased with every year, I finally found an osteopath (who was a student in my class at YogaSpace) who understands the body from a lens my yoga training had never taught me. Within a few sessions, she was able to rewire my foot and I was able to rewire my brain’s response to my foot. Finally, mid-session one week, I popped up and asked her to come to the studio with me and share her ‘magic hands’ and extremely educated anatomy brain with our students. Thus creating Osteo-yoga!
