Experiences of Physical Well-being, Mental Clarity, Emotional Balance, and Spiritual Growth

  • Kirtan is the practice of call and response chanting. It is a form of Bhakti Yoga- the yoga of devotion. The leader calls out a mantra (often in Sanskrit, the language of yoga), and the group calls back. Through repetition of these sacred sounds, we focus our mind, and co-create what is sometimes called the bhav, or 'divine mood.' Kirtan can be an opportunity to tap into your voice, create and feel vibrations in your body, dance, or simply go inward. No experience necessary.

ERYT~500 Lana (she/her) is a lover of movement, inquiry, and deep rest. Creative vinyasa, mantra, and stillness through yin, restorative, and meditation practices are her jam. Yoga in its many forms has been a grounding and transformative force in her life for over 20 years. Currently she lives in Buffalo, New York, but is a proud Canadian with a deep connection to the Toronto (Tkaronto) community.

Lana’s training includes a 300-Hour Jivamukti Yoga training with Sharon Gannon and David Life, 40-Hour Yin Yoga with Tracey Soghrati, Prenatal Yoga with Nicky Poole, Reiki 1 with Ashleigh Meta Larratt, 20-Hour Yoga Nidra with Taryn Diamond, continued study with Sarah and Ty Powers, and trauma-informed work with the New Leaf Foundation. She facilitates in various teacher training programs with a specialization in Yin Yoga, Philosophy, and Mantra.

ECOLOGY OF THE SPIRIT ~ SOMATIC YIN YOGA MASTER CLASS

with Angela Jervis-Read

  • To really know what moves our spirit we need to look beyond the realm of conscious thought. Our strongest held values and beliefs, stored deep in the subconscious mind are embodied.

They have fossilized and our physiology has adapted. These embodied stories that drive our behaviour are expressed as subtle vibrations and experienced as sensation ~ the language of the body.

Sensation proceeds every action we make, directing us towards experiences we like and away from the ones we don’t. Developing the capacity to be with sensation, without reacting, is a skill that translates into the full integration of unresolved and outdated narratives.

This two hour somatic odyssey dovetails Anapanasatati, (a Buddhist breathing technique), and Somatic Yin Yoga. Leave this experience lighter and brighter. Untie knots that drive unhelpful behaviour and make way for a special kind of freedom to emerge.

THE SOUND OF BEING:
A JOURNEY INTO SOUND, EMBODIED RELAXATION AND DEEP LISTENING

with Jay Andrews

  • In this 2 hour session, participants are guided through a blend of fluid movement, chanting, and immersive listening. Rest in soft, supported postures as layers of vocal chant, flutes, drones and spacious soundscapes invite the body to soften and the mind to settle. In both Buddhism and Nada Yoga, sound, vocalization, and meditative listening have been primary methods of releasing constrictions of body and mind into our own innately unified, fluid, harmonic wholeness. This session offers an accessible pathway into these methods, exploring the subtle intelligence of listening and riding the boat of sound into silence.

“Music removes the veil of the untrue to share our true nature.”
    — Ramana Maharshi

    About Jay Andrews

Jay Andrews is an ECMA, Canadian Folk and Juno-nominated musician, composer, and yoga teacher. His studies with YuMee Chung first opened the door to Nada Yoga, and he has since woven together a rich tapestry of chant traditions, instrumental resonance, embodiment practices, and meditative listening rooted in both Yogic and Buddhist teachings. Jay is known for creating sound journeys that are accessible, profoundly soothing, and quietly transformative.

INNER ALCHEMY ~
SOMATIC YIN YOGA

with Angela Jervis-Read

  • Join trauma informed yoga and somatics practitioner, Angela Jervis-Read for an evening of somatic exploration to break free from old patterns and create the life you deserve.

Yogis have long recognized that the mind and the body are one and the same. How we inhabit our bodies has a direct impact on how we think, feel and act in the world.

The alchemy of Somatic practices lies within the connection between sensation and our reactions. Our personal stories are expressed as subtle vibrations and experienced as sensations, visions and symbols. Through the stillness of Yin Yoga, we can hover our attention near these subtle vibrations in an act of deep listening where our awareness of sensation expands and thoughts, feelings and behavioural patterns that no longer serve us, dissolve. Attending to the language of the body in this way brings the systems of the body into coherence, regulates the nervous system, balances hormones and on a cellular level, turns off genes that create disease while activating genes that promote health and longevity.

In this workshop we will begin with gentle rhythmic movement to improve interoception (the system that helps us to feel into our inner world). We will then move into the stillness of Yin yoga infused with somatic practices. Finally, we close with a Somatic Dreaming practice where we plant the seeds to create the future we truly desire.
