YOGASPACE 200 HOUR TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM

Yogaspace is an International Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher Training School that has developed a solid and longstanding reputation for excellence over twenty nine years. We are proud to see our graduates preferentially hired and a notable prominence of our alumni who have become yoga leaders and educators locally and internationally. We have worked hard to develop an outstanding curriculum and to sustain the most excellent faculty. Our lead trainers are among the most experienced and accomplished 500 hour ERYT yoga educators in Canada.

  • The Yogaspace 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Program provides a strong foundation in all aspects of practicing and teaching Vinyasa and Classical Hatha yoga.

    The program happens twice annually in the Spring and in the Fall and takes place in the studio and online over twelve weeks. The yoga philosophy portion is offered virtually over ten Wednesday evenings while the practical training takes place in the studio over twelve weekends. The program concludes with an (optional) teaching practicum on the Yogaspace schedule. For twenty four years Yogaspace Community Classes have proven to be an essential component of our graduate success rate, serving as a breeding ground for confident, capable teachers.

    By certification, our graduates have developed the discipline of a personal yoga practice alongside the knowledge, skill and experience to begin teaching successfully in a variety of settings.

    Graduates qualify for RYT status with the International Yoga Alliance and have the pre-requisite for further yogic studies at the 300 hour level. For quality assurance, we take a maximum of 18 students per session.

    • Introduction to Chanting: Hymns from the Upanishads
    • Introduction to the subtle body
    • How to skillfully weave yoga’s philosophical teachings into your classes
    • Pranayama and Meditation: History, methodology, practice and teaching
    • Teaching skills for creating a meditation offering

    Anatomy of the Moving Body

    • Overview of the human body in relation to practicing and teaching yoga
    • The musculoskeletal, fascial, nervous, respiratory, digestive and hormone systems
    • Practical application of anatomy knowledge to asana practice and teaching
    • Common injuries and conditions: Prevention and modification application

    Practical Training

    • Fundamentals of moving in time and space
    • Loops, spirals, lines of energy
    • Experiential anatomy
    • The human starfish / Moving from the core
    • Putting the hood on cobra: The inner experience of asana
    • Bandha's and Drishti's
    • Asana categories and positions
    • Theory, practice and cueing of the full asana curriculum

    • Introduction to prenatal yoga
    • One-on-one direction and feedback for Yogaspace teaching practicum
    • Certification granted upon completion of all assignments

    Assignments

    • Fifteen minute final presentation
    • Take home, open book philosophy assignment
    • (Optional) two month teaching assignment on the Yogaspace Schedule
    • A minimum of 30 In Studio classes and 5 class reflections
    • Group and personal one hour plus fifteen minute yoga class sequences

  • $3750
    OR
    $3450 (If paid 1 month before the program start date)

    A non-refundable deposit of $750 + HST holds your spot and will be deducted from your final payment of $3000 + HST (or $2700 + HST if paid before the Early Bird deadline)

    4 or 6 month payment plans are available with an administration fee of $25 + HST per month and must be fulfilled by program completion. (Early Bird payment option applies only if arrangements are secured by the early bird deadline)
